Yak is the Secretary and founding member of LYC.
Yak is a trained Community Youth worker with over 20 years’ experience of working and managing within both statutory and voluntary sectors in the Lancaster District. Having lived and worked in the district all his life, Yak has engaged and supported young people from all backgrounds and cultures in the Lancaster area. He has extensive experience of managing projects with communities, children, young people and he has a wealth of experience in managing community buildings & projects, contracts and funding.
In his day job, as Chief Officer of Lancaster District CVS, he is responsible for a number of District forums including; Chairing the Voluntary Community Faith Sector forum, Vice Chairing the Children Young People Multi agency forum and the Morecambe Inter Agency Group. In addition, he represents the Voluntary sector on the NHS Children young people Future in Mind Group, Lancashire County Council Children Young People Advisory board and on the Morecambe Bay Health & Wellbeing partnership board.
Yak is also a Director of ONE Lancashire – bringing together key infrastructure organisations and Lancaster City Council Connecting Communities panel. Yak is committed to ensuring that the voices of children and young people are heard at every level and that partners meet the needs of local communities.
