As we went into lockdown 2021 and face-to-face sessions were put on pause, Lancashire Youth Challenge and Stanleys Community Centre worked in partnership to deliver a 10-week online art project for young people in the district.
Led by artist Hannah Whitlow, young people met each week to experiment with different medias and artistic techniques before planning and creating a body of work titled ’21st Century Minds’. This work focused on the themes of place, identity and changing the mindset on stereotypes.
As a roadmap out of lockdown began, young people met in person for the first time to share their pieces and upload them to the Unlocked Experiences online exhibition. Part of the King Street Studios and Art Gallery, this showcases creative work done by young people in lockdown throughout the Lancaster and Morecambe district.
