Sam Duckles – Project Co-ordinator

Sam joined the team in 2019 as our full time youth support worker. Sam has wide experience working with young people in a variety of settings. Previously working for one of the leading outdoor experience companies teaching bush craft skills, adventure and challenge is a big part of Sam’s life. This sense of adventure has taken him to far corners of the globe where he has taken part in youth and community projects in disengaged areas of Colombia. Sam has also taught English as a foreign language in many parts of the world and has worked specifically supporting individuals with physical and mental disabilities.

Drawing on various work and life experiences, Sam fully believes that good physical and mental health go hand in hand and challenging ourselves, in both ways, on a regular basis is key to maintaining it.

Acknowledging that with the proper support, opportunity and motivation everyone can achieve healthy wellbeing and gain empowerment in their life, personal development is central to Sam’s work at LYC. Aside from being involved in all the elements of the LYC programme, he is the first port of call for our young people, working with them on a regular basis to set goals and go through strategies to achieve them.
