For the last few months we have been one of The Co-op’s Good Causes, via their Local Community Fund.
In 2019 The Co-op delivered £17m to over 4,000 local causes, thanks to our members. When Co-op Members shop with The Co-op, they’re also supporting local causes. Members can choose a local community cause that they want to support.
About our cause
We nurture, support and challenge young people in North Lancashire to overcome barriers and obstacles to achieve personal success. The young people we work with are dealing with significant personal challenges, such as managing their own mental health, dealing with trauma, loss, housing poverty or family pressures.
Our programme of physical fitness training, cultural and creative activity and our ambitious annual challenge is designed to ensure that every one of our participants can gain new skills, build confidence and achieve their own goals. Our projects enable the transformation of young people into positive, responsible and successful individuals.
Engagement with our programme will act as a diversion from negative or criminal activity, help develop positive group dynamics and improve citizenship skills. Being part of a team with a common goal will help to develop self-discipline and our young people to develop a willingness to take an active role in their community and empower them to positively shape their future community.
